Hydrogen-Responsibility workshop

On 24 October 2023, Dr. Gert Goeminne (CDO), Dr. Kasper Ampe (CDO) and Marie Dejonghe (Ghent Institute for International and European Studies), with the support of Prof. Dr. Erik Paredis (CDO) and Kimberley Vandenhole (CDO), organised a workshop at the annual event of Ghent University’s Hydrogen Platform. The worskhop was titled 'Hydrogen Futures - Whose Responsibility?'

Gert, Kasper and Marie were invited to present their work on addressing and integrating societal concerns in the development of hydrogen technologies. To this end, they organised a card-based workshop reflecting about responsibility, based on previous work in Science & Technology Studies. In the workshop, forty participants with engineering and natural science backgrounds reflected on what it means to be a responsible researcher, and how engineering and science relate to social science.

Gert concluded the event with an invitation to continue exploring each other's experiences and practices, especially in future collaborations.
